ABOUT US

The Florida Women’s Business Center (FLWBC) assists women in achieving their dreams by helping them start, run, and grow successful businesses.

FLWBC recognizes that women-owned businesses are a critical component to our nation’s economic viability and a necessary cornerstone in the foundation to building viable communities in Florida.

The FLWBC focuses on helping women overcome barriers to success but is keenly attuned to supporting growth that builds businesses, uplifts communities via employing people, and increasing revenue while maximizing profits.

As a resource partner of the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Office of Women's Business Ownership (OWBO), the FLWBC aims to foster the participation of women entrepreneurs in the economy and to help women compete and succeed in today's global marketplace.

The Florida Women’s Business Center received the 2020 Women’s Business Center of Excellence Awards for the Southeast Region and the State of Florida. FLWBC is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

FLWBC’s primary objectives are to provide: training, counseling, mentoring, resources, referrals, and support to women entrepreneurs.

Areas of assistance include but are not limited to: Business Start-Up, Business Plan Development, Business Recovery, Funding, Marketing, Accounting, Operations and Strategic Planning.

No matter where an individual falls in the business cycle, FLWBC is poised to help. From concept to profitability, the FLWBC is here to counsel, teach, encourage, and inspire. Although services are available to all persons, FLWBC is committed to attracting and serving women.

The Florida Women’s Business Center is a program under the umbrella of its host organization, The Center for Technology Enterprise & Development (TED Center). The TED Center has successfully served South Florida for more than 26 years and is an integral part of Florida’s economic development landscape by improving local communities through implementing innovative development strategies and by promoting job creation via small business ownership. The FLWBC program aligns well with the TED Center’s mission and goals by not only providing its core services of counseling and training to women business owners but connecting them to additional support services offered at the TED Center to aid them in running a successful business. The TED Center support services include a Business Incubator, and Technical Assistance Programs.

FLWBC counseling services are offered at no cost.
Workshops and trainings are offered at a minimal cost or no cost.
