ABOUT US
The Florida Women’s Business Center (FLWBC) assists women in achieving their dreams by helping them start, run, and grow successful businesses, regardless of social or financial disadvantage, race, ethnicity, or business background.
FLWBC recognizes that women-owned businesses are a critical component to our nation’s economic viability and a necessary cornerstone in the foundation to building viable communities in Florida.
The FLWBC focuses on helping women overcome barriers to success but is keenly attuned to supporting growth that builds businesses, uplifts communities via employing people, and increasing revenue while maximizing profits.
As a resource partner of the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Office of Women's Business Ownership (OWBO), the FLWBC aims to foster the participation of women entrepreneurs in the economy and to help women compete and succeed in today's global marketplace.
The Florida Women’s Business Center received the 2020 Women’s Business Center of Excellence Awards for the Southeast Region and the State of Florida. FLWBC is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
FLWBC’s primary objectives are to provide: training, counseling, mentoring, resources, referrals, and support to women entrepreneurs.
Areas of assistance include but are not limited to: Business Start-Up, Business Plan Development, Business Recovery, Funding, Marketing, Accounting, Operations and Strategic Planning.
No matter where an individual falls in the business cycle, FLWBC is poised to help. From concept to profitability, the FLWBC is here to counsel, teach, encourage, and inspire. Although services are available to all persons, FLWBC is committed to attracting and serving women.
The Florida Women’s Business Center is a program under the umbrella of its host organization, The Center for Technology Enterprise & Development (TED Center). The TED Center has successfully served South Florida for more than 26 years and is an integral part of Florida’s economic development landscape by improving local communities through implementing innovative development strategies and by promoting job creation via small business ownership. The FLWBC program aligns well with the TED Center’s mission and goals by not only providing its core services of counseling and training to women business owners but connecting them to additional support services offered at the TED Center to aid them in running a successful business. The TED Center support services include a Business Incubator, and Technical Assistance Programs.
FLWBC counseling services are offered at no cost.
Workshops and trainings are offered at a minimal cost or no cost.

FOCUS ON YOUR VISION…
DREAM – PLAN – EXECUTE – SUCCEED
I’m sure you will agree that these are challenging times for our country, our world, and each of us.
For women in business, opportunities to make a mark while making a difference, has never been so attainable. Access to information, people, funding, fashion, inspiration, hope, connections, and support is available, but we need sharing, caring, guidance and a willingness to work together. At the end of every meeting, workshop, Zoom meeting, and conference call friendships will be forged, ah ha moments will be experienced, laughter at oneself and the world will be remembered.
As business women, tough times require an intense focus, a banding together to support, share, and survive. Now is the time to make connections, to strengthen relationships, to develop flexible plans that embrace today but develop foundations for tomorrow. Now is the time to keep your head above water. History will show that we not only made it through these turbulent times, but regrouped and came out stronger.
Women stay focused on your vision, we are resilient, great organizers, diligent planners, extraordinary business managers and builders, stay focused and become a Shining Star.
The Florida Women’s Business Center is chartered to support Women:
- Women who are running their own businesses and wondering how to “level up”
- Women who are thinking about starting a business and wondering where to begin
- Women who are wondering… are there other women out there who are experiencing the same challenges that I have.
We embrace women who are committed to gaining and sharing knowledge, women who are committed to extending a helping hand even when there is not a visible return, women who want to associate with like-minded women who understand that in addition to “what you know, it’s also about who you know”.
Today, we invite you to become a “USER”. Use our center to tap into Resources, locate Opportunities, make Connections, and again Knowledge - ROCK. Become re-energized and excited about YOU and YOUR Business.
The world is round but has been flattened by innovation and technology. Access to the web allows us to travel the globe and transact business without leaving home.
A flattened world allows us to see far beyond the edge, and use our imagination to determine what’s on the horizon, get connected – stay connected and as women join us, the Florida Women’s Business Center, and learn to grow together.
Our center received the 2020 Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award for the State of Florida from the Small Business Administration. This honor exemplifies the level of support and commitment provided to our clients throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
One on one counseling services and workshops are available at no cost…
We look forward to helping you…
